Hi - I am using latest version 13.01 It has been over a year since I used HDDRIVER so this may be a silly error on my part. I have an 8GB SD card that works now on my UltraSatan on my 4MB 1040STE. The SD card was created/partitioned as reported during boot-up:
ASCI harddisk driver for DOS/TOS compat,
AHDI part. medias & ICD type adapters
V0.98 By P. Putnik, 2009
#0 JOOKIE UltraSatan 1
Capacity: 7694 MB DOS type
Partitions: 5
C: 232MB; D: 232MB; E: 479MB:
F: 510MB; G: 450MB
My goal is to replace the current HDD driver with HDDRIVER 13.01. When I run HDDRUTIL I see the following screens. No Buses or Devises are displayed. I do not find a way to replace the old driver with HDDRIVER. Is this possible? OR must I start from scratch with a blank SD card?

The driver you are using is not compatible with the important XHDI and SCSI Driver standards for the Atari. HDDRUTIL requires a driver (not necessarily HDDRIVER but any driver that properly implements these standards) to be running. HDDRUTIL's device check does not require this functionality to be available, and this is why your UltraSatan is properly detected during the device scan. But most other HDDRUTIL functions are not available, just as you have observed. HDDRUTIL has reported the missing functionality during startup, hasn't it?
Just as the installation instructions for HDDRIVER say, run HDDRIVER (or another appropriate drive) before HDDRUTIL in order to get the full HDDRUTIL functionality. You can then install HDDRIVER, and the previous driver will automatically be disabled.
BUT: I don't know much about the Putnik driver, except that long ago it was not compliant with the usual standards. It might be that the partitions it creates are not compatible with other drivers, which all support the standard Atari partitioning scheme. Therefore, I suggest that before you install HDDRIVER, just run it from a floppy disk, for instance. Just boot from floppy disk with a floppy that contains the HDDRIVER distribution with HDDRIVER in the AUTO folder.
Two things can happen: Either all partitions are detected by HDDRIVER, or they are not. If all partitions are detected, installing HDDRIVER as described in the manual should work fine. If not all partitions are detected, this is due to the incompatiblities of the Putnik driver I have just mentioned. In this case you cannot just use your SD card with HDDRIVER or other AHDI-compatible drivers. You will have to partition a different card with HDDRUTIL, install HDDRIVER on this card, and then you can copy the data from the one to the other card. This should work with the Putnik driver alone, but if it does not you may have to run both, the Putnik driver and HDDRIVER, at the same time. Usually running several drivers is not a problem, because standard-compliant drivers can coexist, but with the Putnik driver it may be different. Please read about the "Preserved existing drive IDs" option in the HDDRIVER manual, because you may need this option if you run both drivers together.
I strongly recommend to back up your data to a second SD card before you continue. Thanks to the UltraSatan this can easily be done, it just takes some time.

As you noted in your reply, HDDRUTIL did have the message: "no XHDI >= 1.25 Support" which as you stated, warned me of the issue. However, I did not know how anything about that message, hence I created this post.

Note that there is not only missing support for an up-to-date XHDI level, but the Putnik driver also does not support the SCSI Driver. If support for these software intefaces (APIs) is missing, others tools for the Atari, not only HDDRUTIL, may also not work, or they only have limited functionality.
Anyway, my guess is that when not booting this driver at all, but running HDDRIVER from the AUTO folder of the HDDRIVER distribution, all partitions will be found, and you can then run HDDRUTIL and install HDDRIVER as usual.
